HIPAA Compliancy Services
What’s new at One Tech, LLC
HIPAA – the HIPPA Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. We’ve all heard of it, but what is it really?
HIPAA is a law designed to provide privacy standards to protect patients’ medical records, however, it applies not only to doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers, but any business that provides services to those entities, as well as those that provide services to those service providers!
Here as One Tech, LLC we have completed a comprehensive HIPAA verification process. This thorough program focuses not only on the physical and technical security in place to protect data, but also the administrative controls through policies, processes, education, and on-going management.
We are pleased to announce that we are one of the only HIPAA compliant technology service providers in the Northwest.
One Tech, LLC completes HIPAA verification process
A mutual concern with all our clients is the need to keep data secure. Being HIPAA compliant isn’t strictly for medical practices!
HIPAA compliance applies to many industries in its own way. Within specific industries, classified data and its security needs are defined by regulations which govern the industries themselves.
According to HIPAA definitions, data security standards are not only applicable to "Covered Entities" (CE’s), or those who directly provide health-related services and maintain health records, but also "Business Associates" (BA’s) who provide services to Covered Entities. In addition, those who provide services to Business Associates are considered "Downstream Business Associates", and are also impacted with data security requirements.
What this means is that even though you may not be the medical practice (CE), because you are vendor of the medical practice (BA) you are absolutely held liable for a HIPAA breach.
HIPAA compliance falls under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) who maintains a list of data breaches that have affected more than 500 entities on their "wall of shame".
